There are four books upcoming on the review queue, if you’re curious. They all have a common thread, Jeff Hays narrates them. He asked me if I would be willing to extend my criticism to both the literary work and the auditory work. I’ve heard several of Jeff’s readings, I own about half of all the narrations he’s done. I particularly like his work with MR Forbes, a phenomenal author you should check out if you haven’t done so already. (Seriously, do it.)
Those books are:
- Delver’s LLC.
- Selfless Hero, I
- Selfless Hero, II
- Selfless Hero, III
I actually never read the first two of the Selfless Hero books, I only heard Jeff’s narration. I went ahead and immediately ordered the third book since it wasn’t available on Audible at the time.
And I hated it. Hated it. I couldn’t figure out if Jeff’s sweet narration had lulled me into a sense of enjoyment the books didn’t deserve or if the book really did take a nosedive in the last installment.
Well I’m going to find out how well Jeff’s performance matches up with the novels and whether or not I will enjoy the third book with Jeff’s added performance to boost it.
